The importance of Teaching the Holy Quran to children
The person who studies the Quran and implements it in his life, his parents will be presented with a crown that will shine brighter than the sun. If this is the reward his parents will get, we can only imagine the level of the reward he will get.
The Quran is the greatest book of this universe and reciting it is also the greatest deed. According to Abdullah bin Masood, Hazrat Muhammad s.a.w said that Allah has promised that the reward for reciting one word of the Quran is equivalent to 10 good deeds. Then Hazrat Muhammad s.a.w said: “I am not saying that Alif lam meem is one word, but these are three words and 10 blessings for reciting 1 word”.
When we hear people recite the Holy Quran, there are two types of people. One is those who recite it fluently and the second is those who recite it by stuttering it.
About these, according to Hazrat Ayesha Hazrat Muhammad s.a.w said:
الماهر بالقرآن مع السفرة الكرام البررة، والذي يقرا القرآن ويتتعتع فيه وهو عليه شاق، له اجران”
“Angels are the experts of reciting the Quran and those who recite it by stuttering and spending more time in reciting it, their reward will be double”.
The expert of the Quran is that person who recites it fluently and his comparison is made with the angels of heaven. But those who are not fluent at reciting it should not stop the recitation, rather they should practice it more because their reward is double.
The person reciting the Quran gets its reward, but his parents also get the reward as discussed earlier. The parents make the effort to teach the children how to read the Quran because a kid can not learn to recite it on his own. His parents send him to a mosque or school to learn the Quran. According to Hazrat Anas. Hazrat Muhammad s.a.w said: “The person who sends his children to the mosque to learn the Quran, all his sins will be forgiven and if his children memorize the Quran, he will be raised like the moon of 14th on the day of judgment. And his son will be asked to recite the Quran. When his one ayah will be completed, he will be raised one level more until the entire Quran is completed”. This reward is for the parents because parents are responsible for teaching their children. If a person does not know how to read the Quran, then also it is the responsibility of his parents. A parent must provide a good upbringing for his children. If a parent does not teach his children how to read the Quran, he will be answerable to Allah. It is not an obligation to learn the entire Quran, but we must learn the small ayats of the Quran.
“الَّذِي لَيْسَ فِي جَوْفِهِ شَيْئٌ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ كَالْبَيْتِ الْخَرِبِ”
“A person whose heart does not contain any words of the Quran; it is the same as having an empty house”.
“کثرۃ ذکرالموت وتلاوۃالقران”
“ A rusted heart can be cleaned by reciting the Holy Quran”.
